Meet Jordan Harris
Jordan Harris is the proud steward of Alkebu-Lan Images Bookstore, Tennessee’s oldest Black-owned bookstore and a cultural cornerstone since 1986. A Nashville native, Jordan is a curator of literacy, heritage, economic mobility, and empowerment through literature and education. Known affectionately as the "Street Librarian," he continues Alkebu-Lan’s legacy by hosting vibrant author talks, dynamic community events, and cultural programming that centers Black voices. A native of Nashville, but Jordan’s journey spans the globe—he studied Economics at Morehouse College and earned a Master’s in Finance from London Business School. His international career in investment banking, followed by entrepreneurial success in London’s food scene, has brought him full circle—back to Nashville, where his mission is to preserve and expand the legacy of a vital Black institution.
