Meet Lorenzo Washington

Lorenzo Washington is a musical preservationist and founder of the Jefferson Street Sound Museum, where the soul of Nashville's Black music history comes alive. A lifelong entrepreneur, Lorenzo launched Soul Shack Records in the 1970s and helped bring chart-topping hits to the airwaves with legendary collaborators. As a curator of cultural memory, Lorenzo has turned the Jefferson Street Sound Museum—complete with a full-service studio—into a living tribute to the sounds and stories that shaped a community. He is dedicated to honoring the past while inspiring future generations.
